Why do I suddenly have fewer Diamonds (reforgoing gear)?

When reforging gear to reallocate bonus effects, Diamonds will be spend depending on the number of boxes you have checked using the lock feature.

The numbers of required Gold and Diamonds are always displayed on-screen, so please check them before tapping the "Reforge" button.
